Transferring videos to your mobile device

Nokia PC Suite

Nokia PC Suite is a free PC software product that allows you to connect your Nokia device to a PC and access mobile content as if the device and the PC were one.

Please note: Your screen may look different from the screenshots below, depending on what device you are using. The following instructions are for Nokia Nseries PC Suite users.

1. Download Nokia PC Suite to your PC

Downloading and installing Nokia PC Suite takes only a few minutes. The free software can be downloaded from www.nokia-asia.com/pcsuite. Follow the installation instructions provided on the site.

2. Connect your mobile device to your PC

Select the most suitable way to connect your mobile device to the PC. You can use a USB cable, Bluetooth or infrared connection.

3. Nokia Nseries PC Suite application opens

After you've connected your mobile device to your computer, the Nokia Nseries PC Suite application opens. In addition to transferring video files to and from your mobile device, Nokia Nseries PC Suite can be used to transfer other media files as well, such as images and audio files.

4. Select Nokia Nseries Video Manager from the menu

In the Nokia Nseries PC Suite main menu, click the camera icon in the top left corner of the application and select Nokia Nseries Video Manager from the application menu.

5. Nokia Nseries Video Manager application opens

Nokia Nseries Video Manager can be used to transfer your video files to and from your mobile device. Start by scanning all the video files you have stored on your computer and mobile device. To do this, click the Start scan icon at the bottom of the application window (or select Edit > Start from the application toolbar).

6. Select video files to transfer

After the application has finished scanning for files, you can transfer video files to and from your mobile device by selecting files from the Scan results view. After you've selected the video files you want to transfer, start file convert and transfer from the application toolbar's File menu (File > Convert and copy to device or File > Convert and copy to PC).

Nokia Video Manager

Nokia Video Manager is a free add-on for Nokia PC Suite. It can be used to download, transfer and organize video files on Nokia devices.

1. Install Nokia Video Manager

Installing Nokia Video Manager takes only a couple of minutes. The application can be downloaded from Nokia Video Manager page. Follow the installation instructions provided on the site. Please note that Nokia Video Manager requires Nokia PC Suite.

2. Connect your mobile device to your PC

Select the most suitable way to connect your mobile device to the PC. You can use a USB cable, Bluetooth or infrared connection.

3. Go to a partner site and choose a video

On one of our partner sites – such as MetaCafé (www.metacafe.com) – select a video you want to transfer to your phone via Nokia Video Manager.

4. Start video download

To begin downloading the video file to Nokia Video Manager, click the Nokia Video button.

5. Choose a download option

Select whether you want to copy the video to your mobile at the same time as downloading it.

6. View videos on your mobile device

Downloaded videos are automatically formatted for viewing on your mobile device, and file sizes are also scaled down to save memory space.

Using USB to transfer video from your PC to your mobile device

Video files can be easily transferred between your PC and your mobile device with a USB cable. Some Nokia Nseries devices also support drag-and-drop functions in Microsoft Windows.

1. Connect your device to your computer with a USB cable

Connect the type A USB connector (the bigger one) to your computer and the type B USB connector (the smaller one) to your mobile device.

2. Choose the transfer mode “Data transfer”

3. Connection between the devices is established

Both your computer and your mobile device notify you when the connection has been successfully established.

4. Locate your mobile device on your computer

Locate your mobile device on your computer by browsing your computer’s file system. Most computers using Windows map your mobile device as drive F.

5. Transfer the desired files by dragging and dropping

Locate the video files you want to transfer on your computer’s file system. Drag and drop these to a suitable folder on your mobile device (in this example the folder “My Videos” is used).

6. Disconnect your mobile device

After the file transfer is completed remember to disconnect your mobile device. This can be done for example by clicking the icon in the lower right-hand corner on your computer’s display and choosing “Safely remove hardware.

7. View the transferred content on your mobile device

After You will find the content you transferred in the corresponding folder (here “My Videos”) on your mobile device. Browse to the video file you want to view and select it in order to launch it.

Using Bluetooth to transfer videos from your PC to your mobile device

Video files can be transferred quickly and easily to your mobile device from your PC with a wireless Bluetooth connection.

1. Set up Bluetooth settings

Bluetooth connections might require settings that need to be set up on your PC and mobile device. Follow the instructions provided in the user guides to set up the Bluetooth settings correctly.

2. Activate Bluetooth on your mobile device

If your Nokia product supports Bluetooth wireless connections, you can usually activate Bluetooth from the Tools>Bluetooth or from Connect., Connections, or Connectivity.

3. Select your mobile device’s visibility

Select Shown to all if you want your device to be found by other Bluetooth devices. If you select Hidden, your device cannot be found by other devices.

4. Define a name for your device

Define a name for your device that will be shown to other Bluetooth devices when creating connections.

5. Pair your mobile device with your PC

To pair your mobile device with your PC, follow the instructions provided in your device’s user guide. Devices within range are displayed after you’ve selected the correct menu items. After selecting the Bluetooth device, enter the passcode to create the connection.

6. Select a video file and start file transfer

Select the item you want to transfer from your computer, click its icon with the right mouse button and select Send to Bluetooth device. You can view the video clip on your Nokia device after the transfer has finished.
